Do I qualify as a Distance Education Borrower?

Distance Education Borrowing Services are offered to any student registered in /faculty teaching UOIT online delivery course(s) only and resides at least 50 kilometres from the North Campus Library. Students enrolled in/faculty teaching on-campus course(s) (either solely or simultaneously with online delivery course(s)) or residing within a 50 kilometre radius of the North Campus Library do not normally qualify for Distance Education Borrowing Services.

Registration

To use Distance Education Borrowing Services, qualified students/faculty must register with the UOIT Libraries. Requests for registration should be submitted to karin.downie@dc-uoit.ca. Please include your name and student/faculty number in your request.

Your Library Card

If you do not have a UOIT Photo ID card, after processing your registration, a separate library card will be mailed to you.

Borrowing Material

UOIT circulating material that is currently "in library" will be checked out to you and mailed to your home. Normal loan periods apply. Material must be in receipt of the library by the due date or fines will incur. Non-circulating and reserve material will be photocopied and mailed to your home. Copyright restrictions apply.

To order material, click on the FORM below.

PLACE A REQUEST FOR LIBRARY MATERIAL FORM

If there are any irregularities with any requests received through the "Place a Request for Library Material Form" link, library staff will contact you using the email address we have on record.

Placing Holds

Material that is currently on loan to another patron should be requested using the "Place a Request for Library Material Form" above.

A hold will be placed on the material and it will be sent to you when it has been returned to the library. Do not place a hold directly through the library catalogue unless you want to pick the item up at a UOIT library.

Interlibrary Loan Services

If the material you require is unavailable at UOIT we will try to get it for you from another institution via Interlibrary loan. Most items ordered through Interlibrary loan are received at the library within seven to ten days. If you are a registered Distance Education Borrower any material received for you via interlibrary loan will be sent to your mailing address. Use the "Place a Request for Library Material Form" link above to request Interlibrary loan material. Do not place an Interlibrary loan request directly through Racer unless you want to pick the item up at a UOIT library.
