GET A CARD:

UOIT Full-time and Part-time Students:

Your student photo ID card serves as your library card. Each academic year, UOIT students must present a current student identification card to register for library privileges. Returning students must have a valid stamp on their card. Cards can be obtained or stamped at the Campus ID Office. Procedures may vary for distance education students.

UOIT Faculty of Education Additional Qualification (AQ) Students:

Free membership for the duration of your course upon presentation of valid student photo ID card (can be purchased from the Campus ID Office) or proof of course registration and photo ID.

UOIT Faculty and Staff:

Your staff photo ID card serves as your library card. Staff members must present a current staff identification card for borrowing privileges. Contract staff must renew their membership annually Cards can be obtained or stamped at the Campus ID Office.

UOIT Research Assistants:

Faculty can request library privileges for staff hired as a Research Assistant with the expectation that the requesting faculty member will take responsibility for all charges incurred on the Research Assistant's card. To obtain a card the Faculty member is required to complete an Application for a Research Assistant Card form and submit the completed form to staff at any UOIT Library. Upon receipt at the North Campus Library, these cards take 24 hours to issue. The research assistant will be contacted when the card is ready.

UOIT Alumni:

Free lifetime membership upon presentation of a valid UOIT Alumni card (available through the Alumni Office) or other proof of alumni status.

UOIT Retired Staff:

Free lifetime membership upon presentation of valid photo retired staff ID card (available from the Campus ID Office) or other proof of retired staff status.

Students, Faculty and Staff from Other Canadian Universities:

Free membership for the current academic year upon presentation of valid identification (Ontario University Student, Staff or Faculty Card; CREPUQ card (Quebec); COPPUL card (B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba), ASIN card (Atlantic Provinces)) and photo ID.

Community Borrowers:

Any member of the general public is welcome to use library materials (reserve material excluded) in the libraries, free of charge. To borrow items from the circulating collection (reserve material and some material from the Education Library excluded), adults may purchase a Community Borrower card upon presentation of valid photo ID. The cost of membership for community borrowers is $50 per year. The cardholder is responsible for all items borrowed on the card. The card is not transferable. This card does not entitle the holder to remote access to electronic databases or to Interlibrary Loan or Reciprocal Borrower services.

LOST OR STOLEN CARD:

The loss or theft of a card must be reported immediately to staff at any UOIT library. Borrowers will be held accountable for transactions on their card until such notification is received.

Replacement cards:

• Where a student or staff photo ID card is a library card, a replacement photo ID card must be purchased from the Campus ID Office. The replacement card must be presented to re-instate borrowing privileges.

• Replacement library issued cards can be purchased at any UOIT library upon presentation of photo ID.
