FACILITIES
Study space
The Social Science Library provides approximately 140 study spaces available on a first-come first-served basis. These facilities consist of a mixture of study tables and single person study carrels.
Quiet study space
The Quiet study room, located at the back of the Social Science Library, has been designated as silent study space. Sound-generating devices cannot be used in this room. No talking is permitted. Headphones cannot be used in this room. These policies are strictly enforced. Those not cooperating will be asked to leave, and risk loss of library privileges.
Library instruction classroom
The Library Instruction classroom is used by Library staff for instructing students in research-related skills.
Media Viewing Room
The Media Viewing Room is equipped with a television and VHS/DVD player. This room is available on a first-come first-served basis for faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students for a maximum of 2 hours at a time. Please see library staff at the service desk to use to room.
Washrooms
Public washrooms are located on all floors of the 61 Charles Street building.
EQUIPMENT
Computer Access
The Social Science Library has one computer for public use during library operating hours. This computer and some resources and services require authentication to access. IT Services is responsible for problems with Network logins and passwords. Wireless access is available throughout the building. Internet connections can also be found throughout the library. For library patrons who do not have a Network login and password, please see library staff.
Printers
The Social Science Library has one public printer. Students are provided with a limited number of free prints each academic year. To purchase additional prints students should inquire with IT Services. This printer is accessible from the library computer and Mobile Learning issued laptops. For more information regarding using this printers and troubleshooting printer problems consult the Printing in the Library page or contact staff at the Service desk.
Photocopiers
There is one self-service photocopier in the Social Science Library. The cost of copying is ten cents per page. This photocopier accepts coins only. Patrons are strongly advised to be aware of the Copyright Policy when copying Library and personal material. Requests for change, copier assistance, or problems with the photocopiers are handled at the Service desk.
Equipment for borrowing
Ethernet cables are available for loan at the Service desk. A library card is required to borrow these items
