What are we offering?
The Centre for Students with Disabilities is offering a summer transition program for students with disabilities entering the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. The program named STEP will assist students preparing for post-secondary studies.The transition program will help you to become familiar with the campus environment and services. You will also have the opportunity to develop and apply skills which will support your studies at the post-secondary level.
Who should attend?
- Any student with an acquired brain injury
- Any student with an autism spectrum disorder
- Any student with a visual, hearing, medical, psychiatric or physical disability
Why should you attend?
- Gain a better understanding of your rights and responsibilities
- Develop study skills and strategies to prepare for university
- Develop understanding and strategies around the impact of a disability in the post secondary setting
- Learn how to use the course management system (WebCT Vista, MyCampus, scheduling, course outlines & calendars)
- Learn your way around campus, build new friendships and a support network
When can you attend?
- August 22nd - 24th 2012
How do you register?
- Call the Centre for Students with Disabilities at 905-721-3123 to arrange for an initial appointment with a Disability Advisor to review your disability documentation.You must have this initial appointment before July 30th, 2012 if you wish to attend STEP.
