CSD Principles of Student Service

The Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD) plays a key role in advancing UOIT's commitment to equity. Acknowledging that the provision of disability services is legislated by the OHRC, the following principles guide our everyday practice:

1. We promote universal design over accommodation, where possible. This approach emphasized proactive consideration of equal participation and recognizes that all students    have varying abilities and needs. We model universal design in our service provision providing flexibility and choice for service access.

2. We provide student-centred service in  a manner that respects dignity, confidentiality and autonomy.

3. We provide student services intended to contribute to exceptional learning experiences.

4. We constantly seek to improve our services. We actively seek feedback from students and use this input to inform our practice.
