English-language proficiency requirements

If you are from a country where English is not the first language of instruction, you must demonstrate English proficiency to be eligible for admission. You can demonstrate proficiency with one of the following:

Formal full-time study in English

Successfully completing at least three years of formal, full-time study (no less than three courses per semester) at a secondary or post-secondary institution where the language of instruction and examination is English. Note: The minimum three-year requirement does not include time enrolled in an English as a Second Language program.

English test

Achieving the required proficiency on one of the following English tests:

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program

If you have met all of UOIT’s admission requirements except for the English language proficiency requirement, you can enrol in an EAP program.

UOIT has an agreement with EAP providers who offer this program. If you enrol in one of these programs, you will receive a conditional acceptance from UOIT. By successfully completing the program level indicated on the chart below, you can begin your UOIT degree program without further testing.
