Goals and Objectives
Goal
To develop the first Evidence-Based Research Unit for Health Education and Technology in Canada, the Health Education Technology Research Unit (HETRU).
Objectives
Objective 1: June 2007 - December 2007: Phase 1. The first objective is to establish the governance and core HETRU members. This objective will be met by implementing the core Administrative Team and faculty investigators, recruiting an International Advisory Board, identifying the research and commercialization priorities for HETRU for the next five years, and setting up the basic research and commercialization infrastructures for HETRU.
Objective 2: January 2008 - December 2009: Phase 2. The second objective is to establish the major research and commercialization initiatives within HETRU as a Research Unit within UOIT. We will implement research projects now in the inception stage or complete research already begun by faculty members and their collaborators. A key effort in Phase 2 will be to create the prototypes for three commercial products for which foundation work has been completed but that will be enhanced by key studies during the first year of operations.
Objective 3: January 2010 - December 2012: Phase 3. The third objective will be implemented during 2010-2012 as an expansion of HETRU to involve more stakeholders at UOIT, and additional academic and business partners. The key effort of Phase 3 will be commercialization of promising teaching, learning, and learning assessment environments that show evidence for improving the knowledge base and clinical judgment of healthcare students and providers.
