The increased use of advanced technologies in teaching-learning-assessment environments as well as in a diversity of clinical and other Health Sciences settings is having an impact on Health Science individuals from pre-licensing education to school to work transitions to post-licensure practice, training, and professional development.
There is a striking inadequacy in the research base about how best to apply advanced technologies to improve student outcomes, school to work transitions, and improved competencies at the professional level.

Figure 2 provides a synthesis of HETRUs vision.
The cylinder of knowledge and skills is divided into core areas of research and commercialization that HETRUs research suggests are the most promising areas for evidence-based development of teaching, learning, and learning assessment environments likely to improve education and practice in the Health Sciences.
