Within the Health Sciences, these opportunities are particularly clear in areas such as the need to reduce medication errors and adverse medical events, to improve cultural sensitivity, to ameliorate healthcare disparities, and to provide more generalized holistic care that improves patient outcomes.

Technology adoption is also a critical competency and few empirically-driven approaches have been developed to assess competencies in technology adoption and capacity for innovation using advanced technologies.
