Insurance and Risk Management

Who we are

The Insurance and Risk Management department, within the Finance and Strategy division, is responsible for all insurance issues for both Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (DC/UOIT). Examples of areas covered are: claims handling process, co-op programs and placement, student trips, on and off campus events, construction and subrogation/recovery program.

Definitions

  • Insurance: Manage the external and self-insurance programs; develop innovative and cost-effective means of protection to suit the growing needs of the college and university community.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess the activities within the community in order to mitigate unanticipated and accidental losses to the college and university.
