The Academic Success Centre (ASC) is committed to providing all UOIT students with tutorial and academic assistance of the highest calibre. The academic subject specialists and peer tutors help with Mathematics, Writing, ESL Writing and Study Skills.
In addition to tutorial sessions and scheduled consultations, the ASC is flexible and will work to accommodate difficult schedules. Peer Tutorials
This is an opportunity for you to work one-on-one with a trained peer tutor. Students are encouraged to bring in their homework and assignments, and seek focused assistance on difficult questions and concepts. Peer tutors are a valuable resource, as they can provide you with information regarding the requirements and conventions of particular programs or courses.
Consultations
Consultation sessions allow you to speak privately to our academic specialists, and it is an opportunity to address individual student needs. Consultation sessions are not peer tutorials; therefore, you should not bring your homework into consultation sessions
Workshops
Workshops provide an interactive way to demonstrate a difficult concept or method to a group of students. First, under the guidance of the subject specialist and/or peer tutors, you are given the directions and methods required to solving the problem. Then, you will have the opportunity to try the method in a learning environment
English as a second language (ESL) writing services
Access our one-to-one consultations to review assignments, improve your editing skills and build your comprehension skills. A variety of workshops and exercises will help you become confident in your English skills so you can confidently meet your academic requirements.
