First-of-a-kind research at UOIT drawing international attention
A new video produced by IBM puts the spotlight on an innovative research collaboration between the international computing giant, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children and other partners around the globe.
The video shares details of the first-of-a-kind research project, known as Artemis, that is being led by Dr. Carolyn McGregor, an associate professor at UOIT and a Canada Research Chair in Health Informatics. The project is helping 'make sense' of the constant stream of data collected from critically ill premature babies so that doctors in the future will be able to recognize the subtle changes that can reliably predict a deterioration in condition and allow them to intervene more quickly. By taking action sooner, there is great hope for reducing mortality rates in premature babies here in Canada and around the world.
IBM's First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) program pairs IBM researchers with clients to bring incredible discoveries and possibilities into view.
