The Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD) offers a number of valuable services to students who are blind or have low vision, who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who have a physical, medical, psychiatric or learning disability as defined in the Ontario Human Rights Code. All CSD office services are confidential.
As the student's academic experience is linked closely to his or her academic program and learning objectives, professors are an integral part of the process.
Specifically, the Centre for Students with Disabilities:
- Supports students with disabilities, so that they can participate fully in all aspects of the academic environment;
- Identifies services on an individual basis with the student, based on a review of confidential medical or psycho-educational documentation, completed by an appropriate specialist (the student must self identify and submit the required documentation to the CSD office); and
- Works with the student and his or her professors to identify the most suitable method of accommodation while upholding the integrity of the academic program.
